Softie System – Durable Wind Protection for ENG and Location Recording

The Softie System is a quick, simple, and cost-effective windshield designed to protect microphones in the demanding environments of modern-day ENG (electronic news gathering) and location recording.

The Softie Windshield features a slip-on open-cell foam with an integral fur cover, offering up to 25 dB of wind-noise reduction without negatively affecting high-frequency sounds. This makes it the standard worldwide in TV production. The windshield’s foam is designed to be resistant to UV and moisture damage, ensuring long-lasting durability, even in harsh outdoor conditions.

Both the foam and synthetic fur are made from specially engineered materials, providing excellent wind protection and reliability. The Softie Windshield can be purchased either individually or as part of a Kit, which includes a Lyre shock-mount and Pistol-grip for enhanced functionality and ease of use.

Softie Windshields are available in two fur lengths:

• Classic fur
• Short hair fur (Camera-Mounted Softie): A compact, low-profile design with closely cropped dark grey synthetic fur, offering a sleek appearance without compromising wind protection. This variant can be mounted close to the camera lens without casting unwanted shadows.
